Hi - I'm Kate

My Story

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: theatre teaches us how to live meaningful stories—onstage and in the everyday chaos of real life. My own story winds through directing, teaching, performing, and arts administration, always with a focus on fostering spaces where my community feels seen, challenged, and celebrated.

I've been shaped through my early years of performing and working in nearly every discipline within the theatre industry. Whether it was child wrangling, stage management, working in a New York costume studio, handling ticket or group sales, or managing a capital campaign to update a two hundred year old fly loft, each experience has uniquely prepared me for the next right step in my creative leadership career, I've taught and created educational programming for every level from toddler to university teaching and professional coaching at every level. I’m drawn to joyful rigor and inclusive, student-centered rooms where big questions, brave choices, and kind collaboration guide the process. I champion stories that uplift marginalized voices, illuminate complex folks, spark laughter, and connect the contemporary stage to its rich and messy history.

Outside the studio and rehearsal hall, my world is beautifully full. I’m raising two spirited toddlers with my husband—a conductor and clarinetist—while our rescue dog, Mr. Bingley, supervises the household with great dignity. Fall is my happiest season, the Food Network is my comfort TV, and on any given day I’m channeling equal parts Leslie Knope optimism and Lorelai Gilmore wit to keep life moving.

All of these threads—family, artistry, scholarship, humor, and heart—inform how I teach, direct, and build community. I’m grateful you’re here and excited to share the work, stories, and creative spaces I love.
